The Need for a New Kind of Actors' Ensemble

Scarlet aims to provide a framework of continuing professional development to support and nurture independent artists at various stages in their careers, and provide development opportunities in an age diverse ensemble.

Scarlet intends to:

  • Provide opportunities for peer learning, skills exchange and self directed learning activity for performers in areas such as voice, spatial awareness, devising techniques, and direction to enable actors and artists to develop a cross discipline approach.
  • Provide a safe space to try out new and experimental ideas within a supported structure where artists can exchange honest feedback.
  • To develop the relationship between actor and audience by pattern breaking and developing artists versatility to stop them getting 'the same old parts', through a series of masterclasses with Katarzyna Deszcz, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Modern Theatre, Czestochowa, Poland.
  • Develop workshop leading skills for the ensemble by providing training in workshop planning, delivery and evaluation to give them an entirely new skill set that they could use to support Scarlet's education strategy, and also to enhance artists earned income through running education workshops, which could also be transferred to training in the corporate sector.
  • Provide networking opportunities and support to artists who are isolated and unsupported in their professional development.
