What are the essential tools of the director?
How can a director imbue a production with his or her vision?
Work with internationally renowned director Katarzyna Deszcz (Kasia) to explore the director?s process from play analysis to performance.
Scarlet Theatre is hosting a week-long master class for experienced directors from Monday 27th November. Invigorating personal exercises are devised by Kasia to sharpen your directing skills allowing better communication between yourself, your actors and the audience. Participants will be asked to develop their own interpretations of a classic play, and direct scenes based on these interpretations.
Kasia trained at the Krakow Academy under Tadeusz Kantor, Andrzej Wajda and Krystian Lupa, following which she co-founded the leading Polish experimental theatre, Mandala.
She was the Artistic Director of Adam Mickiewicz Repertory Theatre until 2006 and was awarded for services to theatre on leaving. She is a regular director for the Stary (National) Theatre in Krakow and works extensively abroad, mainly in Germany, England, Ireland and USA. For Scarlet Kasia has directed five shows co-directed two and created the script adaptation for one performance.
